Trialing

Gymnasts wishing to trial can do so on either our Tuesday or Thursday at no cost to their parents. They need no previous experience, and can come along to our recreation or competition classes after making an enquiry with the head coach as places are limited in training sessions.

You can request a trial by filling in this form, and the head coach will be in touch with you about when the best time to trial would be. Classes begin for the 2024 year on the week beginning the 5th of February. No trials will be accepted before this time.

Attire and Equipment

All gymnasts trialing are to wear fitted clothing i.e. tights/leggings and a singlet top and hair to be neatly tied up. All recreation and pre-competition gymnasts are not required to bring equipment as it will be provided for them.

All competitive gymnasts are required to wear correct HR uniform, club singlet and black bottoms with their hair in a bun. They are also required to purchase their own equipment, leotards, toe shoes and the apparatus of the level they are competing in. These can be bought at the annual Bring and Buy sale or from FIG affiliated Rhythmic Equipment Providers (see useful links).

Cost

Our costs are as follows:

  • Recreation: Tuesday 4.45 to 5.45pm (Cost: $140 + GNZ)
  • Recreation: Thursday 5.00 to 6.00pm (Cost: $140 + GNZ)
  • Pre-Competition: Tuesday 4.45 to 6.00pm (Cost: $145 + GNZ)
  • Pre-Competition: Thursday 5.00 to 6.15pm (Cost: $145 + GNZ)
  • Level 1: Saturday 8.00-10.00am & Tuesday 5.00-6.30pm (Cost: $310 + Membership & GNZ)
  • Level 2: Saturday 8.00-10.00am & Tuesday 5.00-6.30pm (Cost: $310 + Membership & GNZ) 
  • Level 3: Saturday 8.30-10.30am & Tuesday 5.30-7.45pm (Cost: $300 + Membership & GNZ) + Group Option (Overall Total Cost: Approx $427 + Membership & GNZ)
  • Level 4: Saturday 8.30-10.30am & Tuesday 5.30-7.45pm (Cost: $300 + Membership & GNZ) + Group Option (Overall Total Cost: Approx $427 + Membership & GNZ)

All gymnasts are to pay an affiliation fee to Gymnastics NZ (GNZ) each term, and dependent the level at which they train will depend on the cost they pay for this fee.

Howick Rhythmics also has an annual club membership fee for admin and paperwork for our competitive gymnasts. It is only charged once per year, typically at the beginning of the year.
